Bystanders pull driver from flipped car

THERE’S been a lucky escape on the northern Gold Coast after a car rolled and burst into flames this afternoon.

It’s understood the white Nissan X-Trail flipped near the intersection of Peachey and Stanmore Roads at Ormeau just before 4.30pm.

It’s believed bystanders managed to pull the male driver from the smoking vehicle moments before it exploded.

Although initially trapped, the male driver is thought to have escaped serious injury.

Emergency services are rushing to the scene.
