Tim Cahill has announced his departure from A-Leauge club, Melbourne City, on his 38th birthday.
The Socceroos highest ever goalscorer had been frustrated with the club due to the lack of playing time, having only started one game for City this season.
After Australia qualified for the 2018 World Cup, Cahill spoke about the need for him to be playing regular football.

“Qualifying for the World Cup has been a great adventure, and it would be a massive honour to represent my country in Russia,” he said in a statement.
“That will be my focus in the coming months.”
There are reports Cahill is looking at playing abroad.
