Tim Cahill won’t be making an appearance in the Socceroos’ World Cup qualifier against Thailand this month as he recovers from soreness.
Coach Ange Postecoglou admits the side will be put through its paces in a longer than usual 10-day lead up to the November 15 clash and it’s probably best Cahill stays in Melbourne.
Brisbane striker Jamie Maclaren has been called up to take Cahill’s place after a strong performance for his side against Perth last weekend.

Cahill’s omission isn’t the only change to the Socceroos side, with Nathan Burns, Josh Risdon and Milos Degenek joining Maclaren as new faces.
Apo Giannou, Ryan McGowan and Chris Ikonomidis were struck from the list while Luke Brattan, Tommy Oar, Jason Geria and Aziz Behich were not selected from the 30-man line-up announced last week.
The squad will arrive in Bangkok on Sunday sitting in second spot in Group B, two points behind Saudi Arabia.
The side will desperately need a win against Thailand if they are to qualify as one of the top two in their six-team group.
