Calls for tighter security at Sydney prison

Calls are being made for tighter security around one of Australia’s largest prisons, following claims a smuggler was able to scale the fence of the western Sydney jail.

The breach was one of two alleged smuggling attempts in October, where the man used a ladder to climb over the perimeter wall at Silverwater Correctional Complex and drop a large package of contraband items including seven mobile phones and eight sim cards.

Shooters Fishers and Farmers MLC Robert Borsak says he was made aware of the incidents by one of the staff working at the centre.
