Canadian rocker Hal Bruce headlines Cooly Rocks On festival

Hal Bruce, billed as the world’s best Beatles solo act, has signed on as an international headline act for the Cooly Rocks On festival, which is on from 3-13 June, 2016.

The Canadian singer, songwriter, musician and producer who performs as just one man, solo, with his guitar, knows every Beatles song ever recorded, can play each live and is renowned for his uncanny ability to sound just like John Lennon, Paul McCartney or Ringo Starr. A favourite of Beatles festivals around the world, Hal set a record in 2004, performing more than 200 Beatles songs back to back in Cleveland, Ohio.

Hal has recorded 14 albums, including four of original songs which charted well in his native Canada and won him more than a dozen regional, national and international awards including male vocalist, songwriter, entertainer, video and band of the year.

He will land on the Gold Coast for Cooly Rocks On just a few weeks after the May release of new album Rock Steady Line. At Cooly Rocks On shows, Hal hopes to showcase at least a few new songs, alongside hits he loves from the 1960s and 70s and, naturally, the Beatles ‘by request’ medleys his audiences love.

“I have been known to play every Beatles songs, back to back, but that’s not a gig, that’s a marathon,’’ said Hal. “The truth is it’s a lot more fun taking requests from the audience and mashing six and seven songs together right there in front of them. People ask for the hits, but there’s always someone who wants something they think I won’t know. I like the challenge.’’
