On September 8, the Gold Coast will play host to its first ever ‘Walk for Women’s Cancers’ event at Broadbeach.

This morning, the new fundraising event was officially launched at a breakfast attended by sponsors, dignitaries and supporters at the Kurrawa Surf Club.

“Through this event, we are specifically raising money for women’s cancers – so that’s breast and gynaecological cancers,” she said.

“By taking part, Gold Coasters will be showing support for those affected by cancer. One in six Queensland women will be diagnosed this year alone – so that’s over 4000 Queensland women that will be diagnosed with a breast or gynaecological cancer.

“We are hoping to raise $25000, which is roughly 350 people taking part in the walk. We are doing everything we can to raise those funds to put towards research, support services and prevention information as well.”

Registrations have officially opened for the 2018 Walk for Women’s Cancers family fun-walk which will take place on Saturday, September 8 at Kurrawa Park. Participants can choose to either take part in a 3km or 6km walk. For more information, visit to register or call 1300 65 65 85.
