July is here, and northern Gold Coast residents are being reminded that it’s cane harvest season.
The ‘Canegrowers Rocky Point’ group are urging locals in Jacobs Well and surrounding areas that there could be a few inconveniences.
Heavy machinery will be operating on long roads, there could be various wide loads and haul-out trucks working around the area for the next couple of months.

The cane harvesting season officially concludes in December.
Some of the vehicles are slow moving and can be inconvenient to other road users, so the Canegrowers are asking locals to exercise caution during this time.
There could also be a few cane fires, which residents are being told is completely normal.
“Canegrowers members take care to follow every rule surrounding cane firing and attempt to undertake this practice in a way that seeks to minimise inconvenience to their neighbours and nearby communities,” the statement reads.
