THE Scenic Rim town of Canungra has presented Cancer Council Queensland with a cheque for $24,000 to help in the fight against cancer.
Each year the small town is blanketed in pink to raise funds and awareness for Cancer Council Queensland.
The Canungra Chamber of Commerce today presented the organisation with the proceeds of the public health initiative Turning Canungra Pink from 2016.

Over 11 events were held in the hinterland communities of Canungra and Beechmont last October, which saw multiple shopfronts and trees decorated in pink.
Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift thanked the Canungra community for uniting in pink to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
“Thank you to everyone who took part and donated generously,” Ms Clift said.
“Community support is instrumental to our work and significantly reduces the burden of cancer on the community.
“Funds raised are essential in investing in research for better outcomes, and providing support, hope, and advice for all Queenslanders, all cancers.
“To the Canungra Chamber of Commerce, event organisers, volunteers and all who participated – we express our heartfelt thanks.”
Planning for the 2017 Turning Canungra Pink has already begun.
