Car catches fire at Gold Coast servo while fuel tanker fills up tanks nearby

A CAR has burst into flames at a petrol station at Helensvale on the Gold Coast.

The vehicle caught fire at the Caltex service station on Helensvale Road just before midday.

The car burst into flames which quickly consumed the vehicle, despite steady rain in the area.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find the vehicle well alight, burning just metres away from the petrol bowsers.

A fuel tanker was also nearby, refilling the tanks at the petrol station at the time.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

The service station was shut down for a period of time while the blaze was extinguished.
