Man charged after car ploughs into Gold Coast home

UPDATE @ 9.30 AM | A Southport man has been charged after a car ploughed into a home in Oxenford this morning.

The vehicle is understood to have partially gone through the front door of the house on Rushcutter Avenue around 5.00am.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told myGC three adults, who were inside the home at the time, managed to escape uninjured.


However, the home is believed to have sustained a significant amount of damage.

A 35-year-old man, allegedly behind the wheel of the vehicle, was arrested at the scene.

He has since been given a traffic infringement notice for driving without due care and attention, and has also been charged with failing to provide specimen of saliva or blood.

He’s due to appear in Southport Court on October 22.

EARLIER @ 6.00 AM | EMERGENCY crews have rushed to Oxenford this morning after a car ploughed through the front of a home.

It’s understood the car partially went through the front door of the property on Regatta Avenue around 5.00am.

Nobody inside the home was hurt in the incident but the home is believed to have sustained significant damage.

There are reports a young male, who was believed to be behind the wheel of the car, was checked over by paramedics before being arrested.

No charges have been laid.
