UPDATE 2.15PM: EMERGENCY services remain on the scene of a serious traffic accident at Labrador on the Gold Coast where a car has gone through a building.
The Holden Commodore smashed through a glass shopfront near the corner of the Gold Coast Highway and Babbidge Street just after 1pm.
Witnesses said the vehicle mounted a set of steps before driving straight through the front of Aussie Home Loans.

There are reports the male driver may have suffered a heart attack behind the wheel, causing him to lose control of his vehicle.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to hospital in a serious condition. It’s believed he also sustained facial injuries in the collision.
Police said the crash has caused extensive damage to the building, with debris strewn all over the road.
As a result, Babbidge Street has been closed to all traffic.

Witnesses told Gold Coast Weather & News Together on Facebook the vehicle careered out-of-control for some time before slamming into the building.
“I was sitting in Sushi Train when it happened, was a big hit, shook the whole building,” one user wrote.
Police said the vehicle also took out a power pole and a street sign before coming to a rest wedged in the shop.
Fortunately, no bystanders are thought to have been injured.
Police are urging motorists to avoid the area.
