Car set on fire in driveway of Gold Coast home

Investigations are underway into a suspicious car fire in Broadbeach Waters overnight.

Emergency services were called to a property along Merrimac Drive just before 2.30 am, where a car was well alight.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control quickly, and luckily no one was injured.

Early inquiries have found that an accelerant – believed to be petrol – was used to ignite the Nissan Skyline.

It burst into flames in the driveway of a property, but no one was home at the time.

A crime scene has now been declared.
