Car slams into Southport Park shop
An out of control car has smashed into a vacant shop at Southport Park.
Emergency crews were called to the usually busy shopping centre, on the corner of Ferry and Benowa Roads, around 7:50am on Saturday.
They found the male driver with just minor injuries.
Luckily no one else was injured as a majority of the shops had not yet opened for the day.
The man has been taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
He is also expected to have a blood alcohol reading amid suggestions he may have been drink driving at the time.
