Almost one thousand homes and businesses are currently without power in Palm Beach after a car brought down a power pole and live wires.
The car smashed into a pole and a guard rail at the intersection of Tahiti Avenue and Cairns Avenue just before 10am on Sunday morning.
The driver of the car has been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Tahiti Avenue has been blocked by emergency services with diversions in place.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.
Energex reports 950 customers in the surrounding area are currently without power with emergency repairs now underway.
It is not clear when power might be restored.
