Car stop allegedly uncovers drugs and ammo

TWO men have been charged following a Police stop in Molendinar, which allegedly turned up a stash of drugs.

Officers intercepted the vehicle in Trade Court around midnight Saturday and say they found 1.5 kilograms of cannabis, as well as other drugs and a small amount of ammunition.

The driver, 25, was detained at the scene, but his passenger allegedly ran off.


The dog squad was called in and managed to track the passenger, 24, to a yard on Production Avenue.

A search of his escape route allegedly turned up a firearm silencer.

Both men were charged with possessing a dangerous drug as well as drug utensils. While the 24-year-old was slapped with a range of other charges relating to his alleged attempted escape. He will face Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.

While the driver is due to appear on September 8.
