Police are investigating a car crash on the Gold Coast this morning, which took out a light pole along a major road.
Emergency services were called to Ferry Road in Southport, between Benowa Road and Lupus Street just after 4.00 am, following reports of the incident.
On arrival, they discovered that a Hyundai i30 had hit a light pole on the median strip causing it to fall over and smash all over the road.

The smashed light pole affected three lanes of traffic, mainly in the northbound direction for some time before 5.00 am.
The debris was mostly cleaned up by 5.00 am but some southbound lanes were still closed off for service vehicles.
