Cardinal George Pell will make his first appearance in person at the Melbourne Magistrates Court today for a hearing that may take less than five minutes.
The 76-year-old has taken leave from his position as Vatican treasurer to return to Australia to fight historical sexual offence charges.
The former Sydney and Melbourne archbishop has repeatedly denied the allegations of sexual misconduct and maintained he is innocent.
