An injured bushwalker, who was stuck in the rugged mountainous region on the Queensland/New South Wales border, has been rescued by the RACQ CareFlight crew this morning.
The crew was tasked to the Mount Cougal twin peaks region just before 5.00pm on Monday.
It’s believed the experienced bushwalker, in his 60s, was injured while hiking and phoned a friend for assistance. The friend then raised the alarm.

The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter located the man at last light, just after 6pm, on the side of a mountain and alerted emergency services on the ground.
Due to the mountainous, rugged terrain the crew was unable to safely winch the man out of the region.
Alternative plans were made to extract the hiker this morning.
Crews stayed with him overnight.
His injuries are not known.
