THREE significant projects to improve recreational facilities at a popular Gold Coast waterway have been approved.
Member for Currumbin, Jann Stuckey MP yesterday announced that the Currumbin Estuary will receive a huge boost to infrastructure and facilities through recent State Government funding.
“Currumbin Creek is a unique waterway that understandably attracts large volumes of activity. Therefore, it is important we work together to ensure it remains enjoyable,” Ms Stuckey said.

“I have worked closely for a number of months with the Gold Coast Waterways Authority to deliver three significant projects for the Currumbin Estuary to improve facilities for all users.”
The Winders Park boat ramp will receive a much needed revamp, along with a new pontoon for recreational use, and a new mixed use public pontoon will be constructed at Preston Park.
“Pontoons are a great community asset and allow access to the creek for non-powered water craft including canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards,” Ms Stuckey said.
“Further, it will provide a platform for recreational fisherman and bathers, as well as a location for temporary mooring or passenger pick up and drop off.”
Work is expected to begin on these projects in the latter part of 2014.
