Casino card dealer charged over alleged $35,000 cheating scam

A former Sydney casino employee has been charged following an investigation into an alleged card cheating scam.

The Organised Crime Squad’s Casino and Racing Unit launched a probe into the man in February, after receiving reports “an employee and patron had been observed cheating” at a card table at a Sydney casino.

Following investigations, detectives arrested the 26-year-old at the casino on Wednesday 3 March.


“Police will allege in court that the man, who was a Baccarat table dealer at the casino, was involved in an organised cheating scam with a patron between February and March 2021, totalling over $35,000,” NSW Police said.

The man has since been charged with engage in conduct that corrupts betting outcome of event and dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today.

Police say investigations are continuing.
