An all-star cast has been announced for the return of cultural phenomenon Hotelling, which will be taking over the decadent Peppers Soul from 1 – 5 November.
Revered director and star of Australian stage and screen Todd MacDonald (The Button Event; Venus in Fur) is set to lead a fearless ensemble alongside rising indie singer-songwriter and 2017 Gold Coast Music Award ‘Artist of the Year’ finalist Ella Fence.
Completing the ensemble is Helpmann Award nominated cabaret legend Sandro Colarelli (The Lady of the House of Love); SAG Award winning actor and stunt performer Sam Foster (Mad Max – Fury Road); Shock Therapy Productions co-founder and co-artistic director Hayden Jones; and Chinese-Singaporean actor and playwright Merlynn Tong (Bitch: Origin of the Female Species; Straight White Men).

Hotelling sees audience members summoned to Peppers’ breathtaking 64th floor Penthouse apartment and lured into the intoxicating world of ‘Richard Hightower’ (MacDonald); one of the world’s richest businessmen who will conduct an extravagant celebration in honour of his 118th birthday.
Described as ‘the mother of all Last Suppers’, Hotelling injects audience members into the heart of the story, where they feast not only on Hightowers’ intriguing tale, but also on sumptuous bites and sommelier-curated wines from Peppers’ hatted restaurant, Seaduction.
Bleached Artistic Director Louise Bezzina said she and Hotelling co-creator David Pledger were proud to have assembled an all-Queensland cast for the world premiere.
“Hotelling is an extremely intimate performance experience for just 22 audience members per sitting, with no fourth wall and nowhere to hide for our performers,” Bezzina said.
“It requires a certain fearlessness and all-or-nothing spirit, and we know that our astonishing all-Queensland company will deliver in spades.”
Company member Merlynn Tong said audiences could look forward to an evening of magnificence and mystery. “Audiences will love an evening of transgression, allure, fun, and an awakening of their curiosity and senses that they will not soon forget,” Tong said.
“I love the exploration of decadence, excess, and the dance we humans do with our self-defined limits. It will be an incredibly fun night for cast, crew and audiences alike!”
Hotelling plays a strictly limited season at Peppers Soul 1 – 5 November 2017. For tickets and information, visit facebook.com/HotellingGoldCoast/
