Khandalyce’s birth certificate found at home linked to her mum’s alleged killer

The birth certificate of murdered girl Khandalyce Kiara Pearce has reportedly been found at a house linked to her mother’s accused killer.

The remains of the two-year-old were found stuffed in a suitcase and dumped on the side of a South Australian highway in July.

The body of her mother, Karlie Pearce-Stevenson, was found in the Belanglo State Forrest in New South Wales back in 2010. Last month, Daniel James Holdom, 41, was charged with murdering Ms Pearce-Stevenson in the forest back in December 2008.

It wasn’t apparent that the deaths were linked until last month, after detectives searched the home of Mr Holdom’s sister after a tip-off and found Khandalyce’s birth certificate.

In late Ocotober, police revealed an elaborate fraud was carried out across multiple states after Ms Pearce-Stevenson’s and Khandalyce’s deaths.

Police allege Ms Pearce-Stevenson’s identity, bank account and mobile phone were used for years after her death to mislead family and defraud social services. It is estimated up to $100,000 was taken from her bank account between 2008 and 2012.

Mr Holdom is due to appear in Central Local Court in Sydney later today. He has yet to be charged over the death of the child or the fraud.
