Man suffers arm burn after truck bursts into flames on M1

UPDATE @ 4.55 PM | A man has been hospitalised after a truck erupted into flames on the Pacific Motorway this afternoon.

It happened southbound, just after Exit 54 at Coomera, around 3.55pm.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told myGC the driver of the truck suffered smoke inhalation and an arm burn.


He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment.

He’s understood to be in a stable condition.

Traffic is still quite heavy in the area, with motorists urged to allow extra travel time.

EARLIER @ 4.00 PM | EMERGENCY crews are currently at the scene of a truck fire on the Pacific Motorway.

The vehicle burst into flames southbound just after Exit 54 at Coomera around 3.40pm this afternoon.

Two Queensland Fire crews are on site working to extinguish the flames.

It’s not known how many people, if any, have been injured, although a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said paramedics haven’t been called to the scene.

Traffic is quickly banking up in the area.

Motorists are being urged to drive with caution.
