More charges for NSW Doctor accused of sexually assaulting patients

A Doctor accused of sexually assaulting several female patients in Newcastle has been hit a long list of fresh charges.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place inside a specialist clinic on Watt Street.

Police allege that, between 2003 and 2012, six female patients were sexually and indecently assaulted by the 68-year-old male Doctor during consultations.

Strike Force Yatala was formed to investigate the incidents.

Following further inquiries, the 68-year-old man was on Friday charged with 24 additional offences of aggravated sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault.

He is due to appear in Newcastle District Court on Thursday 28 July.

Meanwhile, inquiries are continuing and police are encouraging anyone who feels they may be able to assist with the ongoing investigation to contact Newcastle Detectives.
