Charges laid after Gold Coast mother-of-three found dead in backyard

A man has been charged with murder, over tragic the death of a mother of three on the Gold Coast.

Police launched a major operation yesterday morning after the burnt body of Kelly Wilkinson was found in the backyard of a home in Arundel. 

A 34-year-old man, believed to be Ms Wilkinson’s estranged partner, was found in a semi-conscious state with burn injuries just two blocks from the scene.


He was taken to hospital in a serious condition under police guard, and he is expected to remain there today as well.

He has now been charged with murder as well as breaching a domestic violence order.

His charges will be presented to Southport Court today despite his absence.

Ms Wilkinson’s three children, all under the age of nine, were at the house at the time of the incident and were placed in the care of authorities.

While a Go Fund Me page has since been set up for Ms Wilkinson’s family and has already raised over $50,000 overnight.
