Charges laid after man abducted, beaten and robbed on the Gold Coast

A MAN has been charged with multiple offences over the alleged abduction, robbery and assault of another man at a hotel on the Gold Coast.

A 48-year-old Mudgeeraba man was at the hotel on the Gold Coast Highway in Miami late on Saturday night when a group of men confronted him.

It will be alleged they assaulted him before stealing his wallet and forcing him into a black BMW.

The group then drove the victim around between the Gold Coast and Brisbane, forcing him to withdraw money from his bank accounts.

He was eventually forced out of the car before alerting a member of the public who called police.

A 40-year-old man was found with the car the following morning but he was released by police without charge.

On Tuesday, Detectives raided a property in Pimpama and arrested a 30-year-old man over the ordeal.

He has since been charged with a string of offences, including robbery, extortion and deprivation of liberty.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court later today.
