Charges laid over suspicious death of man in Gold Coast house fire

Police investigating the suspicious death of a man on the Gold Coast last week have now charged a man with murder.

The body of 21-year-old Adam Marriott was discovered inside a smoke-filled townhouse on Leichhardt St just before 11pm last Wednesday.

A 38-year-old man was located in the Redland Bay area about an hour later suffering burns.

He’s remained under Police guard in a Brisbane hospital since then.

Detectives have this afternoon charged the Coomera man with one count each of murder, arson and unlawful striking.

He is due to face a bedside hearing on Wednesday.
