Charges laid over viral hooning incident in Burleigh Heads
An 18-year-old has been charged over a honing incident in Burleigh Heads that made news headlines earlier this week.
He’s accused of driving dangerously along Township Drive on Saturday morning, September 4, when he allegedly collided with a woman’s car.
Footage of the incident then emerged online, which also showed a member of the public dishing out his own form of punishment on the teen.
Police have now confirmed the 18-year-old has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to comply with the duties of a driver involved in a crash, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, driving while disqualified and driving with false registration plates.
He has been bailed to appear on October 4, 2021 at Southport Magistrates Court.
