Child abuser on the run in northern NSW

The Child Abuse Squad is appealing to the community to help track down a man who assaulted a girl in northern New South Wales.

The 12-year-old was indecently assaulted while shopping in Yamba on the morning of Thursday 13 July.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad are investigating the incident which happened at shop on Treelands Drive, about 11.30am.


The man they are looking for is Caucasian and aged in his 50s or 60s with a wrinkled face and a large nose.

He is described as being about 160-165cm tall, with a solid build and a large stomach and short, untidy, light-brown hair, which was greying at the temples.

He was last seen wearing a brown/tan-coloured jacket with a white woollen collar, a red jumper and light-coloured long pants.

It is believed he may have left the area as a passenger in a silver sedan.
