“Child bride” intercepted at Sydney Airport

A 14-YEAR-OLD Australian girl destined for an arranged wedding in Lebanon has been intercepted at Sydney Airport.

It’s understood the young girl attempted to board a flight with her uncle at Sydney International Airport on Friday.

Customs officials stopped the pair after intelligence suggested the girl was being taken overseas to be married.

9News.com.au reports Australian Federal Police are investigating the case.

Immigration Minister Scott Morrison said forced marriages were an “assault on Australian values” .
