Child critical after plunging 30 metres from NSW cliff

A young boy is fighting for his life after falling from a cliff face on the NSW South Coast yesterday.

It’s understood the 12-year-old had been bushwalking, mountain bike riding and swimming with family and friends at Gerringong Falls in Budderoo National Park when the horror accident occurred.

“About 2.30pm on Saturday, the boy was climbing up a track when he fell approximately 20-30 meters from the cliff face onto the base below,” NSW Police said in a statement.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and treated the child for serious head and body injuries.

He was then winched from the bottom of the cliff and airlifted to the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick in a critical condition.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
