Child critically injured in horror crash

A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy is in a critical condition, fighting for life in hospital following a horror crash in Sydney.

The child sustained life-threatening injuries following the horror smash in Concord West about 3.15pm.

In a statement, NSW Police said a truck and a Hyundai Elantra collided at the intersection of Concord Road and Yaralla Street before smashing into a power pole.


A woman and a nine-year-old boy believed to be her son were trapped in the crumpled Hyundai.

Once freed, the little boy was rushed to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.

The woman, who was driving the Hyundai at the time, was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.

Police said the driver of the truck escaped with only minor physical injuries.

He has been taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment.

Both drivers will undergo mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
