Child critically injured after being run over by car in bowling alley car park

A YOUNG child has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being run over by a ute outside a ten-pin bowling alley in Townsville.

Police said the four-year-old boy was leaving the centre on High Range Drive with his family just before 12.20pm on Wednesday when tragedy struck.

It’s understood the little boy was run over after wandering into the path of a 4WD utility in the car park.


Family members and witnesses rushed to administer first aid to the child who suffered life-threatening injuries before racing him to Townsville Hospital.

The child is believed to still be in a critical condition, police said in a statement a short time ago.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
