Child flown to hospital after being trampled by horse

A SEVEN-year-old girl has been trampled by a horse near Tamworth, in northern New South Wales.

It’s understood the young girl was riding the horse on a property east of Quirindi when she fell off and was trampled on Saturday afternoon.

She sustained multiple injuries, including a broken leg and was treated by ambulance paramedics at the scene.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the property to airlift the girl to hospital.

She was flown 225km to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.

The hospital is the only major trauma centre in New South Wales, outside of Sydney.
