Child found in back seat of stolen car after dramatic police pursuit

Police have been left horrified after discovering a young child in the back seat of a stolen car which lead officers on a dramatic chase through the streets of South Australia in the early hours of this morning.

Police said that around 3.15am, patrols spotted a red Holden Commodore driving along a road in Kensington.

A check of the registration confirmed the vehicle had been stolen from a business yesterday and when police attempted to pull the car over it sped off.

A pursuit commenced however it came to an end shortly after when the vehicle turned into a dead end street.

The driver, a 28-year-old woman and passenger, a 33-year-old man, were arrested at the scene.

Horrified, police then discovered a child in the backseat of the stolen vehicle.

The man and woman were both refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Police said Families SA have also been notified of the incident.
