Child hit by car after running onto road

A SEVEN-year-old boy is lucky to be alive after being run over by a car at a soccer field on Sydney’s Upper North Shore.

It happened near the Kissing Point Football Club at Auluba Oval in South Turramurra just before 10.30am on Saturday.

Police said the child was struck by a Mazda CX5 after running out onto Auluba Road.

The boy was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead with a suspected fractured leg and a head laceration.

Police said the child was transported in a stable condition.

The 68-year-old man driving the Mazda was taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Officers from Kuring-Gai Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
