LATEST @ 9.45 AM | A man and child have been hospitalised following two separate bike and vehicle crashes in the same Gold Coast suburb this morning.
Both accidents occurred within minutes of each other at Varsity Lakes.
Emergency crews were called to the first collision just after 8.00am, when a car collided with a male cyclist at the intersection of Varsity Sound Avenue and Christine Avenue.

Shortly after, another vehicle collided with a male child also on a bike at the nearby intersection of Bermuda Street and Christine Avenue.
The pair were treated at the scene by paramedics but managed to escape serious injury.
The man has been taken to Robina Hospital, while the boy has been transported to Gold Coast University Hospital.
Both are in stable conditions.
EARLIER @ 8.30 AM | Emergency crews have rushed to Varsity Lakes this morning after a child was hit by a car.
The boy, whose exact age is not yet known, was struck at the busy intersection of Bermuda Street and Christine Avenue just after 8.10am.
The child is currently being assessed at the scene by paramedics.
His condition is not known at this stage, however, a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told myGC the boy is sitting up.
Motorists are being urged to drive with caution through the area, with delays also expected.
