Child killed in driveway tragedy

A ONE-YEAR-OLD boy has tragically died after being run over by a car outside a home in Sydney’s west.

NSW Police said the toddler was struck in the driveway of a Green Valley home about 3pm on Friday.

It’s understood the child was hit by a Mitsubishi ASX being driven by his 36-year-old father.

The boy’s mother rushed him to Liverpool Hospital but he died a short time later, police said.

The Mitsubishi ASX was seized by police at the hospital and will be forensically examined.

A crime scene was also established at the Whitford Road home and the boy’s father has been subjected to mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

The Metropolitan Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
