Child killed, parents critically injured in ferocious unit fire north of the Gold Coast

A LITTLE boy has been killed and his parents and brother critically injured in a ferocious fire that tore through their unit at Beenleigh, north of the Gold Coast, overnight.

Police confirmed two adults and three children were inside the Manila Street apartment when the blaze broke out just before 10pm.

Emergency crews raced to the scene and managed to rescue two adults and two children from the burning building, but a third child, a three-year-old boy, died at the scene.

Both adults and a child have been rushed to hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.

A fifth member of the family, a one-year-old girl, is also in hospital but is said to be in a stable condition.

Queensland Ambulance says two other adults are in hospital with burns and/or smoke inhalation.

It’s believed they were injured while trying to rush into the home to save the family.

A crime scene has been established, with investigations into the cause of the fire ongoing.
