Child mauled by dog on Gold Coast beach

A four year old child is recovering today after he was bitten by a dog at The Spit yesterday.

The boy was playing in the water with his Mum when a husky bounded on top of him, biting him twice around the neck and head area.

The child suffered a large gash on his neck and puncture wounds to the back of the head.

A nurse on the beach was quick to rush to assistance, applying pressure to his wounds while lifeguards called an ambulance.

He was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital where the wounds were cleaned and stitched.

It’s believed the dog was playing roughly and may have mistook the child for a toy.

The child’s mother told The Bulletin her son would be fine and the dog had only been playing.

No complaint was made against the dog.
