Child ‘serious but stable’ after near drowning on Gold Coast

Anyone heading to the beach this long weekend is being urged to be careful, with a young child already coming into trouble while swimming on the southern Gold Coast.

Emergency crews were called to Bilinga Beach around 1.30pm on Friday, following reports of a near-drowning incident.

It’s understood to have happened at a location off Pacific Parade and Lang Street.


A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told myGC paramedics treated a primary school aged child at the scene.

Thankfully he was “alert and conscious” when crews arrived.

The youngster has since been taken to Tweed Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
