Chilly start with more cold mornings on the way all week

Parts of the Gold Coast have woken up to bitterly cold temps but it was much warmer than expected in other parts.

Coolangatta dipped to just 2.9 degrees just after 6am this morning.

But at the Seaway the temp stayed a mild 10.1 degrees at around 6.30am.

Nerang only got down to 9.8 degrees.

However the strong, cold winds made it feel about 5 or 6 degrees cooler than that.

The strong winds have continued this morning, gusting to 52 km/h at the Seaway and 39 km/h at Coolangatta.

The Bureau is forecasting for those winds to ease later today as we head for a sunny top of 20.

The Gold Coast can expect a run of cold starts this week with clear skies and winds dying down.

Surfers Paradise is forecast to get down to 5 on Monday morning while the mercury is expected to dip to 3 in Nerang.

Similar conditions are expected all the way through to Friday.
