Thick smoke was sent billowing into the air above the suburb as the flames devoured the 20m by 10m tin shed.

Crews managed to stop the blaze from spreading, but not before much of the content inside the shed was destroyed.

The shed was being used to store much of City of Gold Coast’s Christmas decorations, which were set to be rolled out across the city ahead of the festive season over the next several weeks.

Firefighters managed to salvage some of the decorations, but it’s understood a lot of items were destroyed.

One fire truck remained on the scene at 1pm, mopping up and trying to determine what sparked the inferno.
