Cleaner charged after allegedly stealing cash from Sydney business

A CLEANER has been charged after allegedly stealing cash from a business in Sydney’s CBD.

Police will allege in court that the man, who was working as a contract cleaner, entered a business on Elizabeth Street about 2.15pm on Saturday 24 February and stole a sum of cash.

An employee noticed the cash was missing and reported the incident to police on Monday 26 February.

Following investigations, police attended a hotel on Elizabeth Street and arrested a 39-year-old man.

He was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged break, enter and steal and dishonestly obtain financial advantage.

The man, who police say is a Bandladeshi National, was refused bail and is due to appear at Central Local Court today.

Further charges are expected.
