Clinton defends role in deadly Libya attacks

US PRESIDENTIAL hopeful Hillary Clinton has taken to the stand for a marathon grilling by hostile Republicans rivals.

The former Secretary of State and Democratic frontrunner defended her role in responding to deadly attacks in Libya in 2012, while giving testimony before the House Select Committee.

Ms Clinton took ultimate responsibility for the 2012 tragedy, which left four Americans dead, including ambassador Christopher Stevens.

But she insists, she was never consulted about security measures.
