Coach driver charged over serious traffic crash in Central West NSW

A man has been charged following a serious traffic accident near Forbes, in Central West NSW yesterday.

Police said a white Toyota Aurion travelling east on the Newell Highway was stopped at road works roughly 30 kilometres west of Forbes just after 10am.

A coach which had been travelling behind the Toyota allegedly failed to stop and slammed straight into the back of the vehicle.

The driver of the Toyota, a 61-year-old woman, was taken to Parkes Hospital and later transferred to Orange Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the coach, a 43-year-old man, escaped uninjured.

Following inquiries, he was arrested and charged with dangerous drive occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, drive unregistered vehicle and use uninsured motor vehicle.

He was granted strict bail conditions to appear at Forbes Local Court on Thursday 7 July.
