Colombian judge considering plea deal for Cassie Sainsbury
South Australian woman Cassie Sainsbury could be free of a Colombian prison within two years.
The 22-year-old has just faced a Bogota court, with her mum as support, where the judge was presented with a plea deal, struck between the prosecution and defence.
It outlines a six-year jail sentence that could allow her to be released after two years.
The judge has retired to consider the deal and will announce a decision on November 1.
Sainsbury was arrested at El Dorado International Airport on April 12 2017, after a search of her luggage uncovered 5.8kg of cocaine hidden inside 18 headphone cases.
She was on her way back to Australia via London.
