Telstra outage affecting banking services across the country
UPDATE @ 4.30PM: A number of other banks are now also reporting issues with services, which is being caused by a Telstra outage.
Commonwealth Bank customers first reported issues earlier this afternoon with ATMs and EFPTOS.
Westpac and its subsidiary St George have tweeted that some branches, ATMS and services in Sydney are not working and it is working with external providers to restore services.
Telstra has also tweeted that it is looking into the issue, apologising to those impacted.

It’s also urging people who are trying to ring its call centre to be patient as it deals with a huge number of callers.

We're aware some branches, ATMs & services in Sydney metro are non-operational due to a broader network failure in the region. Our teams are communicating with external providers on when services will be restored & we'll keep you updated. Online banking is working normally.

The bank’s ATMs are reportedly down in a number of locations around Australia, including in Sydney’s CBD.
Shops using Comm Bank EFTPOS claim their machines are also down and are coming up with error messages, leaving them unable to process purchases.
