With only two days until the Australian Swimming trials for the Commonwealth Games, Minister Kate Jones says the facilities will be ready.
The Southport Aquatic Centre has been given a facelift ahead of the Games in April with removable grandstands, a new 50m pool and a revitalised gym.
There have been concerns that the facility won’t be ready in time for the first trials on Wednesday night.

However, Minister Jones said everything is on track.
“I’m absolutely confident this is going to look world class on Wednesday night when trials start,” she said.
“There will be 4000 additional seats for the event, I’m calling on all Gold Coasters to come down and get a feeling of what the event will be like during the Commonwealth Games.”
The trials will run from 28th February to March 3rd and will feature swimmers such as Cam McEvoy, Cate Campbell, Ellie Cole, Kyle Chalmers and Mack Horton.
