Commonwealth Games: Australia mine more Gold at Carrara

Australia’s strong form at Carrara stadium has continued with Gold Medals in the Pole Vault and Discus.

One of the Games most enthralling events, the Pole Vault, lived up to expectation.

South Australia’s Kurtis Marschall couldn’t believe the atmosphere created by the thousands of screaming fans.

“Everyone was telling me the crowd was unreal and I didn’t believe it,” he said.

“Then I came out, the first jump, opening height and I couldn’t even hear myself think, I was struggling to comprehend it.”

The crowd’s roars continued when Australia’s Dani Stevens obliterated the competition in the Women’s Discus.

Stevens was the heavy favourite heading into the event and she delivered, throwing a Games record on her fourth throw.

The 68.26 metre toss put her almost eight metres ahead of the silver medallist, and atop the podium.
